A Message from Sheriff Chitwood
The VCSO Charity Committee, in partnership with Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona and Southern Coast K9, is hosting a Police K-9 competition to determine who has the Fastest Dog and Hardest Hitting Dog, and who can best detect odors of either narcotics or explosives. This event will be held jointly with our 5th Annual Motorcycle Skills Challenge on Saturday, November 2, 2019. The event starts at 8AM and runs to 4PM. Our goal is to bring law enforcement officers, both locally and abroad, together to train and become more proficient in their respective disciplines. This event also affords participants an opportunity to both network and share information relevant to the training process as well as any emerging trends or new technologies. Certified instructors will be on site to help facilitate this process. Our ultimate goal is to raise money for two charities: the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch and the Volusia Sheriff’s Youth Foundation. These fantastic organizations share common missions – to prevent delinquency and develop strong, lawful, resilient, and productive citizens who will make a positive contribution to our communities through various residential care, education and community services to troubled or at-risk youth. The VCSO Charity Committee, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, and the Volusia Sheriff’s Youth Foundation are 501(c)3 nonprofits and they rely upon support from folks like you to sustain their mission. If you’re a competitor in one of these challenges, don’t wait! Register today. These slots will fill quickly. In doing so, you’ll help us make this a spectacular event and help ensure a brighter future for youth in our community and state. If you want to get involved and be a sponsor, we’d love to have you join us in this effort! Please visit our Sponsors page for more details. Thank you.
